Thimbles and Threads Newsletter

OPEN HOUSE
Thursday, January 12th through Saturday January 14th

It’s a brand new year and time to roll out the old and bring in the new and we have so many new things to kick off this year!  New displays new samples, new classes, new kits, new block of the month, new fabrics, and a new trunk show from a fabulous pattern designer new to the market!

We'll be busy dismantling and rearranging the shop Tuesday and Wednesday and on Thursday, Thimbles' new class line-up will be available to view in person or on the web site by following this link http://www.thimblesandthreads.com/Events_Schedule.html  and printed copies will be available at the shop after Wednesday.  Pictures of quilts and projects will be posted to the web site as they become available but as you well know, a picture never does justice to the quilt so please stop in to see them in their spectacularity!  (Yes, I just made that word up but it seems to be the appropriate adjective!)

I am so excited to have the quilts and patterns of Elaine Erickson, the creative mind behind "Parties & Patterns" http://www.partiesandpatterns.com/ as our featured trunk show for January/February. Elaine can help you make any and every occasion an event that will be cherished forever! After meeting her, seeing her fun quilts, table toppers, and assorted projects and seeing how she combines them with recipies, games, activities, and decor to create fun-filled family activities I am feeling inspired to make the next holiday one my family will never forget.  A quick peek at the calendar tells me that I am looking for Martin Luther King Day activities - now that is a challenge... I'll have to check Elaine’s web site for tips on this one! In the mean time, please visit Elaine's site. I guarantee there is something there for everyone. And without further personal commentary, let me introduce you to Elaine Erickson.

In her own words:

"I am a stay-at-home mom with eight children, 6 bio and 2 adopted. I am what my children call a "holiday fanatic!" I love to build traditions and fun memories around each and every holiday and special occasion, ranging from Christmas to the first day of school. But it doesn't stop there. We love to host regular dinners in our home, which include themes such as sports, apples, historical events or a fun topic from pop culture (think TV shows and movies.)  There is never a shortage of fun and laughter as everyone brings their creative talents to the table.

I am sharing some of these traditions and fun ideas with you so that you can create great memories for your children, grandchildren, extended families and even your neighbors. We love to invite other families, kid's friends and kid's friends' friends over to share these gatherings with us. Our children know they are welcome to expand the guest list for most any event. More often than you think, we have to compare notes after the gathering to see if we actually know who all was there and who invited them... It was no mistake that we named our cabin "The Gathering Place."

Now that we are into the next generation, it is such fun to see our children gathering their children, friends and extended families in similar fashion, with or without us. The individual blogs and scrap books keep expanding with pictures and memories of fun times together..."

And just in case you needed another reason to justify a jaunt (WORD OF THE WEEK   jauntan  excursion: a trip, especially a short one taken for fun or pleasure) to the quilt shop, during open house only (January 12-14) all clearance fabrics will be 50% off the original price.  I’ve added quite a few bolts during our year-end inventory so grab them up while the pickings are good.  Let’s get those bolts out of the basement and into a beautiful quilt!

Hope to see you at our Open House!
